Success for Ila Arun and Kåre Conradi at the opening of the Litteraturfestivalen/ Literature festival at Lillehammer 2017!
Dagbladet in Norway published a review after Ila Arun and Kåre Conradi were invited to open the Literature Festival at Lillehammer in June 2017. The focus was on Norwegian and Indian culture and a celebration of Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt 150 years anniversary.
Fredrik Wandrup in Dagbladet wrote:
“I am left with two highlights … Nils Petter Molvær performed together with Jesse Millner on Piano and Trilok Gurtu on percussion. Fabulous music! Molvær and Gurtu emerged like two twin souls of music, we are talking rhythms and notes across any border.
Unforgettable was also Ila Arun and Kåre Conradi’s mutual short version of Peer Gynt, based on Conradi’s energetic one-man project and Aruns colourful performance of Ibsen’s play during her own festival in Mumbai. While Conradi performed the text in Norwegian, Arun played mother Åse in Hindi. Exotic and resilient, a demonstration of the universal force of Ibsen. The ridge of Gjendin in The Himalayas!”
